The entertainment world is in mourning following the news of the passing of a beloved and popular television star.
Esta TerBlanche, a South African actress known for her role as Gillian Andrassy on the soap opera «All My Children,» has died.
TerBlanche passed away on Thursday, July 18, although her death was only recently announced. She died in Los Angeles at the age of 51, according to the County Coroner’s Office, as reported by ‘CNN.’
The actress was described as a kind, loving, generous, and caring person who deeply cared about people and animals.

TerBlanche portrayed Gillian Andrassy Lavery on «All My Children» from 1997 to 2001. After leaving the series, she reprised her role in an episode in 2011.
In total, her character appeared in over a hundred episodes of the successful soap opera, which significantly boosted her career.

Cameron Mathison, who played Ryan Lavery on the series, paid tribute to his co-star through his Instagram stories, calling her «my sweet princess.»
«Esta helped me last year when Red was sick and paralyzed, and I was struggling. One of the sweetest people to ever exist,» he added in another story.

Meanwhile, the «All My Children» account on X, formerly Twitter, remembered the actress in an emotional post.
«Rest in peace, Esta TerBlanche. Thank you for entertaining us with your beautiful and captivating performance. We will miss you, princess,» the message read.
This TerBlanche was born on January 7, 1973 in Rustenberg, South Africa, and gained attention when she was crowned Miss Teen South Africa in 1991.
It was in 1995 that the television star decided to move to the United States to pursue her dream of acting.

On All My Children, she played Gillian, a troubled Hungarian princess, from 1997 to 2001.
Although her character died in the series, TerBlanche returned in 2011 as the ghost of Gillian, creating an emotional moment with Cameron Mathison.
The series, which ran for four decades, concluded with this emotional scene, CNN reported.
TerBlanche also starred in South Africa’s first soap opera, Egoli: Place of Gold, playing Beatrice «Bienkie» Naudé Hartman from 1992 to 1995.
An indelible legacy
After her acting career, TerBlanche returned to South Africa, where she opened a spa and worked on documentaries with filmmaker Michael Kastenbaum.
At the time of her death, TerBlanche was living between South Africa and California, the EFE news agency reported.
She was found dead at the age of 51, although the causes of her death have not yet been revealed, according to ‘CNN‘Investigations are still ongoing.
